20 Under 40

The New Yorker has released a list of the “20 under 40” best fiction writers (10 dudes/10 dudettes).

They are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, 32; Chris Adrian, 39; Daniel Alarcón, 33; David Bezmozgis, 37; Sarah Shun-lien Bynum, 38; Joshua Ferris, 35; Jonathan Safran Foer, 33; Nell Freudenberger, 35; Rivka Galchen, 34; Nicole Krauss, 35; Yiyun Li, 37; Dinaw Mengestu, 31; Philipp Meyer, 36; C. E. Morgan, 33; Téa Obreht, 24; Z Z Packer, 37; Karen Russell, 28; Salvatore Scibona, 35; Gary Shteyngart, 37; and Wells Tower, 37.

It has been more than a decade since the magazine has published a “20 Under 40” list. The last one, in 1999, included some future literary stars who were then relatively unknown, like Jhumpa Lahiri, Nathan Englander and Junot Díaz. (Relatively established authors like Michael ChabonJeffrey Eugenides, and David Foster Wallace were also on the earlier list.)

So you know, it’s a good honor.  I suppose this is where I go, D’oh, you have to actually write a book to be on the list.

"The Kid" by Salvatore Scibona is really great. For some reviews of the other stories, check out this link: http://digitaldunes.blogspot.com/search/label/20%….

Awesome, I'll have to check it out. Scibona was one of the peeps I hadn't heard of, but given the nod from you and the company he's in on this list, I'd say it'll get bumped to the top of my list.
