Swiss Miss points out a one page memo of words and phrases that were not used during the editorial stewardship of Kurt Andersen at New York Magazine.
“It contained, as you might surmise, words and phrases that Kurt found annoying and didn’t want used in his magazine,” Hugo Lindgren explains. “Just yesterday, I rescued it from a bunch of old office stuff that I was throwing out, and I have to say, 14 years later, it’s still a pretty useful list of phony-baloney vocabulary that editors are well-advised to excise from stories.”
Have to say it’s a pretty good list and one every publication should adhere to. Just, um, well, not this one. One day I’m going to come up with my own irreverent style manual. (via flavorwire)
