Say what you want, but everybody is handling this travesty with class and sportsmanship.
To wit, umpire (and one of the best in the game) “Jim Joyce said, “I did not get the call correct. I kicked the shit out of it.” No, he would not blame his angle. (“I had a great angle on it.”). Or say it was close. (“I just missed the damn call.”)”
You can just hear the regret and remorse in his voice.
And the pitcher, Armando Galarraga, seems to have no ill will towards the umpire. “We’re human. … Nobody’s perfect,” he said, after accepting an apology from Joyce.
One things for sure, MLB shouldn’t overturn the call, since so much of sports is the human element of officiating.
