In Focus features the 11 winners of the 2012 National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest.
“These eleven images were chosen from more than 12,000 entries submitted by 6,615 photographers from 152 countries,” Alan Taylor writes. The winning photos came from four categories: Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place, and Spontaneous Moments.
The one above, taken by Vo Anh Kiet of H’Mong minority children playing with their balloons on a foggy day in Vietnam’s Moc Chau – Ha Giang province in January 2012, is my favorite of the winners. There’s something so haunting about it.
