One Sheet: The Fall

Despite being a movie directed by a guy named Tarsem, who’s? other movie was the J Lo disaster The Cell, this new movie The Fall sounds like it could be something special.

Los Angeles, circa 1920’s, a little immigrant girl (Catinca Untaru) finds herself in a hospital recovering from a fall. She strikes up a friendship with a bedridden man (Lee Pace) who captivates her with a whimsical story that removes her far from the hospital doldrums into the exotic landscapes of her imagination. Making sure he keeps the girl interested in the story he interweaves her family and people she likes from the hospital into his tale.

According to AICN’s Moriarty, “I love the stories about how he would shoot this film a little at a time while working on commercials and videos around the world, flying his cast in to spend a half-day or so at the end of each of his other shoots. It?s bold and it indicates to me that this is a film he had to make. I was just sent a giant book full of production photographs from the film, and if nothing else, it looks to be a lush visual experience.”

“THE FALL” opens in theatres on Friday, May 9.? Poster have the jump.
