As far as pointless award ceremonies go, the Golden Globes are better than most. This year, without much of a surprise, they showered the love on Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air. “The tale of a corporate hatchet man who travels the US sacking people and obsessively collecting air-miles has emerged as front-runner in the early stages of Hollywood’s awards season, as George Clooney’s recession-era satire Up In The Air drew six nominations to lead the field for next month’s Golden Globes.”
The Hurt Locker, without a doubt the best movie released in 2009, also garnered some well-deserved nominations. No such luck with District 9, another movie that still resonates.
