Mike Judge’s track record is pretty impervious to criticism. Even though he’s yet to make anything hugely populist, he’s created a cult about him – all he has to do is say I’m the creator of Office Space, Idiocracy, Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill. Two of the best animated shows of the last 20 years, one of the best comedies in the past 20 years and another cult-following for Idiocracy.
His latest, Extract, puts together an excellent ensemble cast, anchored by Jason Bateman (as any other actor recently capitlized as much on their second chance gift like he has post Arrested Development?) and featuring a crazy Ben Affleck.
As if that’s not enough we get Kristen Wiig, Mila Kunis, and J.K. Simmons. Sold. I’m there.
Synopsis: Joel, played by Jason Bateman, is one step away from selling his flavor extract factory and retiring to easy street when a freak workplace accident sets in motion a series of disasters that put his business and personal life in jeopardy.
Extract hits theaters on September 4.
