Cloony can do no wrong. His post-Batman and Robin acting career has been a paradoxical study of less is more. He always makes careful, interesting choices, seemingly to not be a movie star and yet he’s the first person you think of (other than Will Smith, obviously) when you utter the phrase “movie star.”
That his movies make almost no money is besides the point. Or maybe it is the point. So, we have to ask ourselves, what’s the deal with this seemingly benign, by-the-numbers thriller?
We’ve got an American CIA assassin, who decides his next job will be his last after a botched job. So what am I missing? Is this a drama with a few thrills? A thriller with no thrills? What would entice Clooney to make this movie?
