For fans of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings, there’s a certain sense of homecoming with his first video diary for The Hobbit. Jackson’s directing career has kind of sputtered since LoTRs, not that he needs the money or work from directing. But it’s surprising to see him artistically go into neutral. Now, he’s back in comfortable territory. Though I would’ve loved to see a Guillermo del Toro Hobbit flick, one might argue that Jackson needed the Hobbit as much as the Hobbit needed him. We all feel good about this, no?
