It’s like checking back in with an old friend after many years and realizing everything you loved about them was still there in new and interesting ways. Hot damn, I was a little scared Peter Jackson would let me down with the Hobbit twofer, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Not that I didn’t trust him, but Jackson pitched three perfect games with LOTR, and that’s a difficult feat to measure up to.
The dwarves look excellent and Martin Freeman is perfect for young Bilbo. Also a nice touch is maintaining the same aesthetic from LOTR. Often times when prequels are done many years after the first set of movie, the filmmakers don’t take into account any sort of continuity that the prequels took place before and therefore the technology, etc. wasn’t as advanced.
Again, not a problem. Giggity. [via collider]
