I stopped watching the Golden Globes right after Ricky Gervais’ opening monologue. I flicked back and forth, but unlike last year, I had no vested in the show.
Aside from maybe 50/50 — the Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Seth Rogen cancer comedy (my favorite film of 2012) — there just weren’t many movies worth pulling for in 2012. Granted, there have been a few I haven’t seen yet like Scorcese’s Hugo and Alexander Payne’s The Descendants . There were plenty of great movies in 2012,but most of my favorite movies weren’t particularly nominated and of the nominated movies there was no dark horse or even a Social Network/King’s Speech type of face off to root for or debate about.
Based on the complete list of winners, from last night, it looks like I didn’t miss much. There was hardly a surprise, hardly anything controversial, hardly anything worth talking about this morning.
