I don’t really get the whole historical/literary/monster mash-up genre, but maybe the point is there is no point other than it’s mildly humorous in concept. Still, this looks like it’ll be a decent escapist romp and a nice companion piece to the (probably) more historically accurate Spielberg biopic starring Daniel Day-Lewis.
What’s interesting is that this trailer plays the movie without a hint of wink-wink irony. It’s being treated as a serious action/horror flick… even though, you know, it stars Abe Lincoln as the titular vampire hunter. Also, the use of Johnny Cash reading Revelations 6:1 could probably lend video of me hanging out in my underwear a giant dose of gravitas.
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, starring Benjamin Walker as Honest Abe, Rufus Sewell, Dominic Coopers, Alan Tudyk, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter opens June 22. [via popculturebrain]
