What is Charlie Kaufman’s ‘Anomalisa’?

Charlie Kaufman is the mad-genius writer behind Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and more.

His latest project, Anomalisa, is a 40-minute stop-motion animated film about “a man crippled by the mundanity of his life.” Now, that would be interesting in and of itself, but where this really becomes fascinating is that Kaufman is using Kickstarter to fund his new movie ($20 gets you a digital download, $100 gets you a bevy of goodies plus your name listed in the official credits, for example) and he’s partnering with Starburns Industries to produce it.

What is Starburns Industries? Glad you asked. If anyone is a fan of Community then you know immediately that Starburns was the name of the character played by Dino Stamatopoulos. Anyway, Dan Harmon, the mad genius behind the Internet’s beloved sitcom is executive producing Charlie Kaufman’s animated movie.

While the movie is described as being about a man crippled by the mundanity of his life, you know with Kaufman and Harmon’s fingerprints on this, the movie will be anything but. This might be the most exciting thing I come across today.
