NPR music gets a major facelift

Wow!? Kudos to public radio, or should we say National Public Intertubes.? They completely overhauled the music section of the and that’s fantastic.? It was always very difficult to navigate to the music, but they always had great content.? Now it’s easy to find and peruse.

They’ve got some fantastic features up there now, including Magnetic Fields honcho Stephin Merritt taking the reigns for “Project Song,” in which song writers are challenged to come up with a song in 48 hours.? Their only inspiration is a photo and one word.? It’s a great look into the process of songwriting, for those so interested.

Check the site out for yourself, it’s worth spending some time getting to know.? Sleater-Kinney’s guitarist Carrie Brownstein has a blog set up with them, so that’s cool.? You’ll find interviews, blogs, lists, songs, pretty much more stuff than you can shake a tail feather at.

Merritt, by the way, has the new Magnetic Fields ablum Distortion arriving in January 2008 and he’s embarked on a tour.? Dates after the jump.
