“Sleep, Child” is a newish (relatively) video from Portland’s Nick Jaina, who has quietly become one of my indefensible singer-songwriters. He has a knack for turning phrases and penning tunes that strike right at the emotional core of your soul.
The video for “Sleep, Child” comes from his new record A Bird in the Opera House (or check out the sesh he did for Daytrotter, it’s free and a good barometer of whether or not you’d like to continue your musical relationship). It was shot by Tim Nelson on a Canon 7D DSLR camera at 60 frames per second (for the slo-mo) in 720p. Impressive what you can do with those cameras.
Nick is on tour right now and his lives shows are both intimate and raucous, a joyous celebration of friendship and love and heartache. You won’t regret seeing him at all.
