Despite Mason Jennings‘ disappointing concert last weekend in Boston (curious choices for his setlist, lack of full backing band), his new album Minnesota has some really great tunes on it. The album as a whole is a mixed bag, which has been the case with the last three or four albums from the midwest troubadour. When Mason is good, he’s one of the best songwriters in music. Unfortunately, his bad songs are painfully so.
I’ve yet to decide if “Clutch” or “Hearts Stop Beating” is the best tune off his new album, but I’m leaning towards this one. The new video is also great, which is just random images of people in love.
