Aside from Red Rocks, there are very few venues in America hosting major summer music festivals that can hold a candle to the majesty of The Gorge. That lush Pacific Northwest setting has been home to the Sasquatch! Music Festival, which is celebrating it’s tenth anniversary in 2011.
The line-up is (pretty) good, featuring a nice mix of Pacific Northwest favorites and national headliners. From Sound on the Sound:
Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, The Head and The Heart, Macklemore, The Moondoggies, Wheedle’s Grove, Dan Mangan, The Globes, Young Evils, Mad Rad and more. Much more so than recent years line-ups, 2011’s seems to have a Northwest bias and you know we love that. Plus, we’re excited to share that at least one of those local bands, who are not DCFC or Modest Mouse, will also be playing The Gorge’s hallowed Main Stage.
Of course, Sasquatch is much more than a local festival and we were pleased to see that lots of our national and intentional favorites including Local Natives, Sharon Van Etten, Deerhunter, Fitz and the Tantrums, Best Coast, Wye Oak, Wilco, Bright Eyes, Noah and the Whale and Wolf Parade will be Washington bound come May.
Other acts that jump out at me are The Foo Fighters, The Decemberists, The Flaming Lips playing The Soft Bulletin, Local Natives, The Thermals and Jenny & Johnny. Also? I though Wolf Parade called it quits? Is this going to be one of their last shows?
Sasquatch takes place Memorial Day weekend.
