MIT at the Age of 150

This list compiled by the Boston Globe pretty much confirms what we’ve all suspected — the world we live in is pretty much thanks to MIT.

Chew on these accomplishments to start: the Internet, the transistor radio, genetic mapping, biotech, email, Bose audio, Guitar Hero and Rock Band, color movies, black boxes on airplanes, the Internet Archives, Campbell Soups, Hewlett-Packard, lithium-ion batteries (which power just about every electric gadget these days), the e-ink display on Kindles, Zipcar, PET Scans, Douglas McDonnell Airplanes, ethernet cables, and Doctor Doolittle among many, many, many other things all owe part of their existence to MIT.
