From Fastcodesign:

Wordmark.it is a tool to end our suffering. It’s a free website that scans your computer’s installed fonts and displays them in a simple visual grid for easy browsing. You can even change how big or small the grid tiles are.

This is going to be immensely useful. It’s already booked and the next time I need to figure out what font to use for a project, this will be the first place I turn to.  No more hunting and pecking.  I can’t imagine this will create a more “typographically-savvy citizenry,” as John Pavlus wishes, but it will make the lives of designers a bit better.
