It’s hard to not to like Benjamin Bratt.? He’s a good actor and has some serious charisma to boot.? Law and Order hasn’t really been the same without him (and the case could be made about Jerry Orbach too).? So it always comes as a surprise that he hasn’t worked more in the past five years.
Sure he was in the misguided NBC show E-Ring and some bit parts in movies but we always felt like Benjamin Bratt could be a serious leading man.? Look no further than his work as street poet Miguel Pinero in Pinero or his role in the underrated war flick The Great Raid.? He has two high profile movies coming out in Love in the Time of Cholera and Guerilla,? which is the Benicio del Torro biopic about Che. ?
“The Cleaner” was created by Jonathan Price (“American Dreams”) and Robert Munic and was based on a real-life extreme interventionist. Bratt will play William, a former convict and addict who makes a deal with? God to go straight and help other people get clean “by any means necessary.”
A&E has asked for a second episode script as well.
Sounds worth watching.? The cable channel has also snagged Patrick Swayze for a pilot show titled Beast.? Looks like they are making a splash the same way FX did several years ago.? Hopefully these shows will live up to AMC’s Mad Men. ?
