Kristen Bell Returns to Television

Actress Kristen Bell, who’s had some decent success on the rom-com circuit since Veronica Mars was cancelled, is, thankfully, returning to television.

Bell is a fine and likable presence in her projects, she’s demonstrated nimble comedy chops and dramatic flair, but for whatever reason, those qualities haven’t struck lightening on the big screen.

So now, she’s joining the Showtime pilot House of Lies. And the pay channel will hopefully be a nice home for her — like other in-betweeners (actors/actresses that are too good for basic network shit but haven’t had huge success in the movies).

Based on Martin Kihn’s tell-all House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, the dark comedy stars Don Cheadle as Marty, a cutthroat consultant who uses any means necessary to procure information for his clients.

Bell, 30, would play Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a bright Ivy League graduate who works at Marty’s firm.

The project was created by Matthew Carnahan (but unfortunately, the less talented one).  Still, it’ll be nice to have Kristen Bell back in my life once a week.
